The rules for our workshops are very simple and boil down to one thing: Respect.
Hank and Anita are an athiest and a Baha'i and respect the beliefs of others.
We expect our beliefs and the beliefs of our workshop participants and partners
to be respected. We would consider it in very poor taste for anyone at one of
our workshops to proselytize to us, to our participants, or to our partners.
The workshop is about straw bale construction.
If you drink in our home or at our workshops where alcohol is permitted we will
expect you to drink responsibly and not drive if you have been drinking. If
you drink and drive we will turn you in to the Ontario Provincial Police. We
live here and will not tolerate drunks on our roads.
If our workshop is being held in cooperation with a partner we will accept and
enforce some non-discriminatory rules (such as bans on alcoholic beverages and
smoking.) We will not however partner with any organization which asks us to
discriminate against our workshop participants based on age, race, gender, religion,
or sexual orientation (this is not an exhaustive list.) At the same time we
will ask our workshop participants to respect the beliefs of our partners and
to be discrete about their activities at our workshops and respectful of the
sensibilities and beliefs of our partners.
We will absolutely not tolerate aggressive or threatening behaviour or speech
whether it be directed at us, our workshop participants, or our partners. If
you act aggressively at our workshops you will be asked to leave immediately.
If you do not do so we will call the Ontario Provincial Police and have you
removed.
We take safety seriously. We will expect everyone who participates in our workshops
to do so in a safe maner. We will provide protective equipment appropriate to
the tasks being performed and will expect our workshop particiapants to use
it. If you are not working in a safe maner or are doing something unsafe we
will ask you to stop and show you how to work safely. If you refuse you will
be asked to leave the workshop.
